Introducing Us: Cat

Welcome to Raising Monkey, Loving Sarge, where I blog about life as an Air Force family, faith, parenting and the adventures we experience along the way.

It all began a little over 3 years ago when I signed up for an eHarmony trial and was alerted that I matched up with an Air Force guy, who at the time was stationed in Texas...

Life has been a bit of a whirlwind ever since...  I'll get into more details as we go along.

I thought I'd start by introducing myself first:

I'm Cat.  I'm 26.  I'm finally and proudly a Stay At Home Mommy!
I was adopted at birth by a wonderful set of loving parents and my dad just so happens to be a pastor. So yes, I grew up in the "fishbowl" as a PK. I accepted Christ at the age of 5 and strive every day to walk closer to Him and seek His face.

For as long as I can remember I've wanted to be a wife and a mom - preferably great at each role, and I try so hard to succeed at being great,
but thankfully I have God's grace to get me through the days where I completely fail at both.

Before becoming a wife and mommy I dabbled in a lot of things... from movie buff at Blockbuster, Camp Medic at several camps across the US to becoming an EMT. Later I worked as a Nanny/Au Pair (in France!), Kids Ski School Instructor and a host of other miscellaneous adventures.  At the moment I'm working on finishing up a degree in photography with the New York Institute of Photography and a Medical Transcription certificate. I've dabbled in photography enough to say that I have my own photography business but I'm currently on an extended hiatus due to the need for upgraded equipment. I also wanted to spend these precious moments that are so fleeting with my daughter. Eventually, I would like to go back to school (I'm not 100% decided on what) but for now I'm happy to be serving in my current season of life.

In my free time I love to read, take pictures, travel, and of course spend time with my handsome hubby, sweet baby girl, and my puppy Rusty!

A couple of my life philosophies:

‎"I don’t want to miss the dance. I get hung up on so many things in life, worrying about what I will never do or achieve or have. But I don’t want to miss the dance. I want to love my spouse, care for my kids, and give life to my friends. I want to do the work God made me to do. I want to love God and the world he made. I want to do my part to help it flourish, for my spiritual maturity is not measured by following rules. The me God made me to be” is measured by my capacity to love. When we live in love, we flourish. That is the dance." - John Ortberg

"I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen. When you come looking for me, you'll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed." -Jeremiah 29:11-13 (The Message)

I hope you've enjoyed learning more about me!  Over the next couple days I plan to introduce you to "Sarge", "Monkey", and our dog Rusty.
