Monkey and I had great plans to have a Halloween party with lots of good treats and friends. However, we had to cancel the party because of illness. Even after I decided (a couple days ago) to call off the party tonight, I had hoped we'd at least feel well enough to enjoy the day. It seems that it's just not in the plan this year. Unfortunately, even Sarge has managed to get sick. He is still deployed and is absolutely miserable.
I hope to get out in a bit to get our annual Jack-O-Lantern pizza and I picked up some fun Halloween mac and cheese to make for lunch today too. Once Monkey wakes from her nap I will probably go ahead and get her dressed in her Halloween costume. I think we will just plan to snuggle up, munch on some pizza, and probably watch some some Charlie Brown. Maybe Sarge will feel up to Skyping later too.
I was searching for a cute printable sign to put on the door to let trick or treaters know we wouldn't have any candy (and to stop my doorbell from ringing incessantly all night) and couldn't find anything, so I decided to make one myself. It's nothing special, but if you'd like one to print and put on your own door check out the facebook page where you can download the sign I made. Be sure to "like" the facebook page if you stop by! Once we hit 100 likes I'll be doing another giveaway!
I'll be posting about our fall festivities in the next few days! Also -- be sure to keep an eye on the blog for a VERY big change and announcement!

St Patricks Day - 2011
![]() |
| St Patricks Day 2011 |
It looks like I spoke too soon about us all being on the mend!
This sickness just isn't done with us yet.
Sarge was even sent home sick from work today and put on "quarters" until Monday!
We spent our St Patricks Day mostly in bed, emptying the DVR.
I had planned to at least attempt something fun for dinner... but Sarge picked up pizza instead.
We did manage to sneak in a quick craft with Monkey...
She really wasn't too amused that we smothered her hands and feet in green paint!
We decided to save the photo shoot we had planned today for a day when we all feel better.
Monkey did manage to sport a couple green cloth diapers today!
To top off our green celebrations? I think we'll have a bowl or two of green jello before bed!
How did you spend your St Patricks Day 2011?

Memorial Day 2010
For only the 2nd time during this deployment I got to see my husband on webcam!
He couldn't talk out loud, but it didn't matter.
He couldn't talk out loud, but it didn't matter.
I finally, after 3 very long months, got to see my husband's face!!
I can't tell you the good this does for my heart and soul right now...
There just aren't words to express it!
However, on Memorial Day especially, I am forced to remember that there are too many other wives (and other family members) out there who are currently living through my absolute worst nightmare.

However, on Memorial Day especially, I am forced to remember that there are too many other wives (and other family members) out there who are currently living through my absolute worst nightmare.
They don't get to see their loved one's smiling faces on webcams.
They don't get those middle of the night phone calls that warm your heart as you cry happy tears.
For way too many, these are just cherished memories that they now cling to more than ever.
For way too many, these are just cherished memories that they now cling to more than ever.
Their loved ones have paid the sacrifice for us all to enjoy the freedom to enjoy our everyday lives.
So as you gather around with family and friends today.
Please enjoy your BBQ, the warm sun, and the laughter and good times...
Please also take a moment to remember why you have these privileges.
Please remember those who will forever miss someone special in their life.
Include them. Reach out to them. Pray for them. Honor their loved one's memory.

Don't forget the one's who are still serving and fighting...
On the battlefield half a world away and on the home front battlefield.
Especially today. Make the time to remember.
Be thankful to be an American.
